Holiday in Levi

Levi, located in the village of Sirkka in Kittilä, Finnish Lapland, beckons travelers from near and far. Situated 992 kilometers north of Helsinki, the view from Levi's highest peak – 530.3 meters above sea level – is unforgettable. A holiday in Levi is the perfect combination of tranquility, relaxation, and active vacationing. Levi is also known as Finland's largest ski resort.
How to Get to Levi?
Getting to Levi is easy and comfortable, whether you're flying directly from abroad or taking domestic flights from Helsinki. Kittilä Airport, just a 12-minute drive from the heart of Levi, serves as your gateway to this enchanting part of Lapland. You can easily travel from the airport to Levi by rental car, bus, or taxi. Alternatively, you can bring your car on the train and enjoy the scenic route from Helsinki to Rovaniemi or Kolari, with bus connections available to Levi.
Accommodation – Where to Stay?
Levi offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit every taste: from luxurious hotels and cozy cabins to holiday apartments. For those seeking a unique experience, the Levin Iglut (Levi Igloos) offer the chance to stay in glass-roofed igloos, where the Northern Lights and starry sky are part of the overnight experience. Traditional hotel accommodations are available at Hotel Hullu Poro and Break Sokos Hotel Levi. For those preferring cabin stays, I recommend booking through www.lomarengas.fi or www.booking.com, which offer a wide selection of options.
Activities – Adventures for Every Taste
Levi is a winter sports enthusiast's paradise, with skiing, of course, topping the list. Additionally, husky and snowmobile safaris, cross-country skiing, and skating are available. Don't miss the opportunity to experience ice swimming or bathing in a traditional Finnish smoke sauna, for example, at Sammun Tupa, where a conventional smoke sauna and a dip in the Ounasjoki river await. We booked a landscape sauna for two hours, and I can tell you it was worth it. The sauna was great, and the ice hole was truly refreshing. Summer brings opportunities for fishing, golfing, mountain biking, and hiking.
The Best Time to Visit
A holiday in Levi offers experiences throughout the year. The skiing season lasts from October to May, while the Northern Lights can be seen from the end of August until April. Summer is the time of the midnight sun when the sun never sets. In September, you can experience the stunning natural beauty of the autumn colors.
Restaurants – Taste Experiences from Lapland
Levi has a broad range of restaurants to suit every palate, from sushi to traditional Lappish delicacies. NiliPoro, a restaurant in the center of Levi, offers an unforgettable reindeer stew meal – I highly recommend it.
Levi is a place where entertainment, adventure, and relaxation meet. Discover the experiences available in Levi in more detail at www.levi.fi and start planning your next holiday to Lapland.
